Vission And Mission
Vision and Mission
Vellavoor Grama Panchayat in Kottayam district, like other local self-government institutions in Kerala, operates on the principles of Mahatma Gandhi's concept of Gram Swaraj and decentralized planning. As a local government, the Panchayat's official vision and mission are centered around the following primary objectives:
Vision
"To create a self-reliant model village through participatory planning based on democratic principles."
Vellavoor's development vision mainly encompasses:
Sustainable Development: Implementing eco-friendly development projects aimed at safeguarding future generations.
Social Equality: Fostering an inclusive environment that ensures equal justice and security for marginalized groups, women, children, and the elderly.
Infrastructure Development: Ensuring access to quality roads, drinking water, housing, and electricity for all citizens.
Mission
To turn this vision into reality, the Panchayat undertakes the following core missions:
Poverty Alleviation and Employment: Securing sustainable income and self-employment opportunities for rural residents through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and Kudumbashree.
Health and Sanitation: Streamlining solid and liquid waste management through the Haritha Karma Sena to achieve a waste-free village, while delivering quality healthcare facilities through Primary Health Centers.
Agriculture and Allied Sectors: Boosting the production of local agricultural crops—such as paddy, rubber, and vegetables—and promoting dairy development by providing necessary subsidies and training.
Good Governance: Fully leveraging E-Governance and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to deliver Panchayat services to the public in a swift, transparent, and corruption-free manner.
Education and Cultural Advancement: Upgrading the physical infrastructure of public schools and emphasizing the holistic development of children.
